Hampton Whites 4 - 0 Paston Flyers

Just a week on from victory against league leaders Parkside, the Whites faced another crucial match, this time against a third-placed Paston Flyers side looking to dislodge them from the second promotion spot.

Starting the game just one point ahead of Paston but with a game in hand, victory would give the Whites some breathing space for the run-in but the high-performing Paston side, who beat Hampton last time around, stood in their way. Both sides kept it tight during the nervy opening exchanges of the match until Dami broke into a busy box from the right and sent a classy finish over the oncoming keeper.

Paston kept the margin tight into the second half and came out strongly in the second period. Hampton held on despite Paston narrowly missing an equalising opportunity and then extended their lead when an adventurous Bradley worked his way to the byline and fired his cross at the goalkeeper who could do nothing but divert the ball into his own net.

At last with the pressure relieved, Hampton pressed on and soon after, William sent a well-taken and powerful volley past the keeper direct from a corner to make it three and Bradley completed the scoring when he made another marauding run  into the box, cleverly sending his finish past the onrushing keeper and into the net for the fourth and final goal.

With four games left to play, the Whites will need leaders Parkside to drop at least four points to be in with a shot at the title but at least the destiny of second place is in their hands.
